Every failure reaches the client as an MCP error carrying its message; mask_error_details is set off explicitly, since FastMCP also reads it from the environment. The masking goes, and with it the filter pre-check that ran a count before every filtered call and the UnknownDatabaseError translations that existed only to survive it.
